Marine services: the nautical World revealed
We provide the services of a sailing school with professional sailors who have thousands of miles under their keel, sailed in every Sea of the planet, from Alaska to Thailand, from Cape Horn to Sicily. Passionate sailors well aware that safety and competence are key. And we love to pass along what we learned.
The pleasure of a day at sea is deeply rooted in our desire for escape and romanticism, and to skipper a boat offers unequaled sensations for the sailor. But a sailing license is far from enough to provide the necessary safety during a cruise or a manoeuvre. One cannot just say 'I cast off and enjoy the sea. Sailing Knowledge is essential.
SailingtheWeb sailing courses are held almost entirely on private or SailSafe chartered boats, and are the ideal option for those who:
- have just received the sailing license and cannot see the time to cast off with friends and learn together with them
- have just bought a sailboat and want to enjoy it with confidence and tranquility
- sailors who rarely use their boat and want to refresh their ability, get in touch with the new technology and improve their techniques
Sailing courses dive deep into many topics
- Navigation – GPS might fail, and we will use and practice the main navigation techniques all along the route, be it a coastal or a crossing
- Beacons and lights – so many sailors, even old salties, might do with some refreshing in lights, beacons, periods, colours and all those signals that some clever organization spent so much money to put there in the first place
- Confidence – our courses are tailored to increase the confidence of the skipper and help him to plan a cruise from beginning to end, and to manage the crew
- Mooring techniques – practice and tricks to finally master these manoeuvres, even in the case the engine fails. It's essential to know what to do if the engine does not start
- Man overboard techniques – even if we stress the attention on the fact that a man should NOT fall overboard (plenty of devices to avoid so) stuff happens. Being able to recover the lost crew rapidly and effectively is essential and can sail lives
- Tailored courses – support and advice about any particular aspect of sailing
- First aid courses – an all too often underestimated course
- Boat and engine maintenance – a well maintained boat is a safe boat. The course is especially tailored for hands-on sailors or for those who are tired of paying the outrageous fees of the so-called "experts"
- Racing techniques - on-board assistance for the skipper, the tactician, the bowman and manoeuvres in general
